“presque rien” inhabits the edge of audibility, where sound hesitates between presence and disappearance. Drawing from the reductive sensibility of Onkyōkei and lowercase tradition, the work unfolds in a field of near-silence, where listening becomes an act of attention rather than expectation.
Across four sparse pieces, minute events surface and recede: fragile electronic traces, unstable feedback, microscopic vibrations, and the quiet resonance of found objects, revealed through contact microphones. What might otherwise remain hidden, internal frictions, residual hums, the subtle life of materials, is gently brought into the audible.
There is no narrative here, no forward motion, only a suspended time, shaped by proximity, texture, and the shifting threshold of perception. Sounds do not assert themselves; they linger, flicker, dissolve.
In “presque rien”, almost nothing is given, yet within this near-absence, a dense and intimate world emerges, inviting the listener to dwell inside the act of hearing itself.
